Today's Shattered Star: Maturity

So I've decided to write about something that always bothers me.

And I'll call this section "Today's Shattered Star"!
See there's the technicolor. :)

Anyway, Maturity.

Has anyone ever considered that we need time to be immature before we can be mature? I can't even remember a time in my life when I wasn't told to "be a big girl" or "grow up" or "behave like a young lady". Its such a double standard! We're treated like children, yet expected to act like adults. It doesn't make any sense, its a conflicting message. If people want us to act mature, they have to treat us like we are.

Now, I'm not saying that I suddenly want to grow up and become an adult.
Absolutely not!

I'm just saying that we need a chance to enjoy our immaturity before its too late. And adults should be very clear in what they expect from us, because vague doesn't cut it.

Don't you agree?

On another note: I just realized I have to do Summer Reading!

I concur.

I believe we have to enjoy and experience our immaturity and through it make some mistakes to learn from. In some cases, maturity isn't something you can choose to do, as much as something you have to grow in to. :p

Yes, it's true. We can only grow up by making mistakes and recognizing we are wrong. And we should enjoy the part of our lives when certain mistakes are forgivable. Still, that doesn't mean we shouldn't be careful, but there's things we won't get to do once we're older.
I've come to the conclusion that when someone older than you just gives you a vague "grow up" or "be a big girl" it's because they can't exactly tell you how to do it. Sure they can give you advice, but it's up to you to know how to group and what advice to take. Other times it's just what you say, they don't know what they really want.
